Amid complaints of non-functional streetlights, the Municipal Corporation has launched an intensive drive to illuminate the city, spearheaded by Commissioner Gautam Jain and Joint Commissioner Dr Sumandeep Kaur.

“The team has undertaken several initiatives, including installing LED strips on poles at key locations such as Guru Nanak Mission Chowk, Skylark Chowk and Namdev Chowk. They are also replacing outdated lighting systems and have introduced floodlights at the multi-skill centre in the Leather Complex to enhance visibility and safety”, said Joint Commissioner Dr Sumandeep Kaur, under whose supervision the work is being carried out.

“Efforts are in full swing to ensure the completion of work by the end of the month, covering crucial areas like the 120 Feet Road and the stretch from Kapurthala Chowk to the Canal”, she said, adding that she has been actively overseeing the progress, conducting on-site inspections to ensure timely execution.
