MC officers forgo 50 pc entertainment allowance

To save Rs 8L per annum as civic body grapples with financial crisis

Following in the footsteps of the Municipal Commissioner, all entitled officers of Municipal Corporation (MC) today voluntarily gave up their 50 per cent entertainment allowance, which will save expenditure to the tune of Rs 8 lakh per annum.

Twenty-eight officers of the MC, including Joint Commissioners, Chief Engineer, SEs all Executive Engineers and other administrative officers voluntarily gave up their entertainment allowance.

Earlier, MC Commissioner Amit Kumar has ordered to slash his entertainment allowance by 50 per cent, which is Rs 90,000 per annum.

The MC is facing huge financial crisis and the Commissioner has directed all officers to curtail expenditure and explore revenue generation solutions.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Commissioner has also slashed the expenditure on Chrysanthemum Show to Rs 3.5 lakh from an approved budget of Rs 24 lakh. The MC has auctioned food court at the three-day event for Rs 3.35 lakh to meet expenditure.
