MC for FIR over Verka underpass defacement

The Municipal Corporation (MC) has recommended FIR over defacement of Verka underpass on Southern Bypass. In the recommendation sent to the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Sarabha Nagar police station, the civic body officials have recommended lodging of FIR under The Punjab Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 1997. The civic body has sought a strict legal action against the offenders.

As per the officials, some unidentified persons had defaced the Verka underpass walls with derogatory and vulgar remarks in the past. After the matter came to the notice of the officials, corrective have been taken and an FIR has been recommended against unidentified persons.

Meanwhile, MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal has issued a strict warning that similar action would be taken against those found involved in defacement of public property in future too.

Dachalwal appealed to residents to stop defacing the public property and spread awareness among others against the practice.
