MC chief inspects waste lifting, mech sweeping

For ensuring cleanliness and regular lifting of garbage across the city, Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal conducted surprise inspections during day and night time on Tuesday. These inspections were conducted to ensure regular lifting of garbage from static compactor sites and secondary garbage dumps, ensure cleanliness and mechanical sweeping of roads.

Firstly, Dachalwal conducted inspections to check cleanliness and lifting of garbage at Metro, Chandigarh and Tajpur roads and Sector 39 on the Chandigarh road among other areas. These areas fall under zone B of the MC. The civic body Assistant Commissioner-cum-Zonal Commissioner (zone B) Neeraj Jain accompanied Dachalwal during the inspections.

He issued necessary directions to the staff for ensuring cleanliness. The staff and contractors have also been directed to ensure regular lifting of garbage from static compactor sites and secondary dump sites, or else strict action would be taken against them.

Later during the night hours, Dachalwal conducted a surprise inspection to check the working of mechanical sweeping machine at the Jagraon Bridge. — TNS
