MBBS Admissions: Submission of fake documents to invite strict action, students told
The Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) has issued a stern warning to candidates submitting fake documents for reserved category MBBS course seats, following numerous complaints. The university has vowed strict legal action and to permanently debar students found guilty of such practices from future admissions to medical colleges in Punjab.
Complaints were lodged against nearly 100 students accused of using multiple state domicile certificates to secure seats. Last week, the BFUHS debarred five students for these fraudulent activities and is seeking clarifications from others involved. Dr Rakesh Gorea, Registrar of BFUHS, emphasised that any candidate found submitting false documents, including caste, category, non-creamy layer, sports, terrorism-affected, or NRI certificates, will be permanently disqualified from future admissions. Additionally, students applying in more than one state for state quota seats will be debarred from MBBS seats in Punjab.
This controversy has raised concerns during the ongoing admission process for 10 medical colleges in Punjab. Out of 1,600 available MBBS seats, 1,250 are reserved under the state quota. Around 100 students reportedly declared themselves as bonafide residents of Punjab using fake domicile certificates, denying genuine candidates from the state their rightful chance at admission.
