Mayor Madaan holds public meetings, Samiksha garners support for father-in-law in Sonepat
The electioneering in Sonepat constituency is picking up pace day by day and candidates and their supporters are leaving no stone unturned to reach the voters.
However, the contest seems to be triangular after BJP rival and the former media advisor Rajiv Jain jumped into the electoral fray as an Independent candidate.
The BJP has fielded Mayor Nikhil Madaan from Sonepat who recently joined the BJP while the Congress has fielded sitting MLA Surender Panwar, who was recently arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a mining and money laundering case.
Nikhil Madaan on Saturday held public meetings during his campaigning at various colonies to connect to the people. Madaan held meetings on Kakroi road, Fauji Colony, Sarang road, City Mall, Sector 14, meeting at Uttarakhand Bhawan in Patel Nagar, Faiz Bazar, Kailashpur ward-4, Jain Bagh Colony, Mishra Colony on Mehlana road and in Shadipur near the ITI on Saturday and appealed to the voters to vote for the BJP on October 5.
Madaan said the BJP-led state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, is working for the overall development of the state with honesty and without discrimination. The government is working for the welfare of people in society without any social discrimination, he added.
Taking a dig at the Congress, Nikhil said the Congress was misleading the people by making false promises.
In Congress, Samiksha Panwar, daughter-in-law of the Congress candidate Surender Panwar, who is in the jail in an ED case, is maintaining the command of the campaign. Samiksha, along with the team members of Surender Panwar, visited several wards, colonies in the city to woo the voters during the campaign on Saturday till late night.
Samiksha Panwar visited Shastri Colony, 8-Marla, Model Town, Sikka Colony, Braham Colony, Tara Nagar and other colonies and addressed public meetings to garner support for her father-in-law.
Samiksha, while addressing the gathering, said the doors of MLA Surender Panwar were always open to the people of Sonepat. He is ready to help people 24 hours a day. Taking a dig at the BJP, Samiksha said people in the state had made a mood to change the government and to oust the BJP from power. The Congress is going to form a government in the state, she claimed.
BJP rebel and Independent candidate Rajiv Jain, who made the contest triangular on the Sonepat seat, visited various places — Sainipura, Vishal Nagar, Shiva School, 4-Marla, near Little Angels School, Narender Nagar, Bhagat Singh Colony, Garhi Ghasita, Shastri Colony, Mayur Vihar and Geeta Bhawan temple — on Saturday.
Jain appealed to the voters to vote for him and said that he was in the field to serve the people, but the BJP hadgiven ticket to some other person. He appealed to the voters to vote for him.
