New Delhi, August 25

In his monthly “Mann Ki Baat” radio broadcast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said he hoped that with collective efforts, youths with no political background would take a plunge in politics. He added that the spirit shown by such people during the freedom struggle was required again to attain the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat’.

Modi said his Independence Day call for one lakh youth sans political background to join politics had evoked widespread positive reactions, with some youth stating that dynastic politics crushes new talent.

“We thus come to know that a large number of our youth are eagerly ready to enter politics. All they are looking for is the right opportunity and apt guidance. On account of the absence of a political legacy on part of their grandfather or parents, they could not enter politics despite wanting to,” the PM said.

He added that some youth had written that they possessed a good experience of working at the ground level. Hence, they could be helpful in solving people’s problems.

During his address, Modi also spoke to IIT-Madras alumni who are helming spacetech start-up GalaxEye. The team informed Modi that the technology developed by them could take crystal-clear satellite images, even through clouds and the data could then be utilised to monitor India’s borders and coastline. The start-up has also developed technology that could measure water quality from space for the prawn farmers.

Modi also said that the “Har Ghar Tiranga and Poora desh Tiranga” campaign was a success. “We saw the Tricolour fluttering atop houses, as well as at schools, colleges and universities,” he said.
