Mandi theatre artistes seek dedicated hall
Mandi, July 27
Theatre artistes from Mandi have called upon Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to address the pressing need for a dedicated town hall to facilitate theatre activities in the town. The request was formally submitted through a memorandum presented to Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan yesterday.
Rampal and Sarita Handa, prominent artistes from Mandi, highlighted the absence of a dedicated venue for theatrical performances and training in the town. They emphasised that the lack of such a facility had significantly hindered the growth and opportunities available to budding theatre artistes.
The artistes conveyed that without a proper place for theatre activities, aspiring actors and theatre practitioners faced considerable challenges in accessing quality training and performance spaces. They added that the establishment of a town hall for theatre activities would not only support local talent, but also contribute to the cultural enrichment of the community.
In their memorandum, the artistes urged the Chief Minister to prioritise the development of a town hall to support and nurture this art in Mandi. They expressed hope that necessary action would be taken to create an environment conducive to the flourishing of performing arts here.
