Man stabbed to death in Karnal village, mob sets accused’s house on fire
A 32-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by a group of people on Friday night in Takhana village in Karnal district. The deceased has been identified as Sunny, a resident of Dayanagar under the Taraori police station.
Sunny, a father of two, who worked as a driver, was stabbed when he was trying to mediate in a dispute in his in-laws' village Takhana. He was accompanying his brother-in-law Sunil to resolve the dispute.
Sunny was rushed to the government hospital in Taraori, where he was declared dead by doctors. The incident led to anger among people. In retaliation, some people allegedly set the house of the accused on fire after the incident. Police and fire personnel quickly reached the crime scene to control the blaze and prevent further violence.
Sunny was called by his brother-in-law Sunil as he needed his help to resolve a dispute with their neighbours in Thakana village. Sunny and Sunil tried to calm down the situation, but were instead attacked by the accused.
“We have registered a murder case against eight persons and started an investigation,” said Mukesh Kumar, SHO, Taraori.
He said the body had been handed over to his family members after the post-mortem examination. The SHO said efforts were being made to nab the accused.
