The PAU police on Friday registered a case against a man who duped a city resident of Rs 63 lakh on the the pretext of investing money in the business of cars. After receiving money, the suspect failed to start any business.

The suspect was identified as Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Bajra village.

The complainant, Kulwinder Singh, a resident of Haibowal Khurd, here, told the police that he, along with Bhupinder Singh, had met the suspect who asked them to invest money in the business of cars and assured that the business would give huge returns. Believing the suspect’s claim, Rs 63 lakh was given to him. After taking the money, the man failed to give any profit or return on the investment and whenever they asked him to return the money, he would make hollow promises. Afterwards, a complaint was lodged against the suspect with the police in July last year and after month-long investigation, they registered a case against him.
