Man jailed for filing false bike theft report in Sirsa

Sirsa’s Nathusari Chopta police arrested a man for misleading the authorities by filing a false motorcycle theft report. Sub-Inspector Rajaram, Station House Officer of Nathusari Chopta, identified the accused as Monu, a resident of Rupana Khurd village in Sirsa district.

According to the police, Monu filed a complaint on October 1, 2024, claiming his motorcycle was stolen during a sports event in the village. Based on his report, a case was registered and an investigation was initiated.

During the probe, the police recovered the motorcycle, uncovering the truth. It was revealed that Monu had financed the bike and filed the fake theft report to deceive the finance company. He had sold the motorcycle to another individual for Rs 10,000 as part of a scheme.

Sub-Inspector Rajaram stated that Monu was arrested for providing false information, wasting police time and misleading the authorities. A case was registered under relevant sections and Monu was produced before the Sirsa court, where he was sent to judicial custody.
