The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has asked 38 builders in Gurugram to address maintenance and repair issues in their societies within a week. The action followed after a man was injured when some chunks of plaster fell on his head in a society today. The incident was reported from Signature Global Solera, Sector 107, when some chunks of the plaster fell from stairs and injured a resident.

It may be noted that just 12 hours ago, some chunks of the plaster had fallen from at least four flats and the DTCP had issued a notice to Signature Global builder and the residents had filed a police complaint also. After these incidents, the DTCP identified 38 societies that are in dire need of structural intervention, maintenance or repair. The DTCP has asked the builders to set the things right within a week and ensure that no such incident happens again during the monsoon.

A statement issued by Signature Global said they had handed over the maintenance of the society to the Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) over a month ago. The possession of the flats was given in 2018. “A structural audit has been completed for Solera. We acknowledge the recent unfortunate incident, which involved a small plaster piece falling due to the rainy season. The necessary repair work will be completed soon,” the spokesperson said.

In the notice issued by District Town Planner (Enforcement) Manish Yadav, the DTCP instructed the developers not only to survey the structural integrity of their buildings but also address critical maintenance issues, including water supply, sewerage, stormwater management, and prevention of rainwater stagnation. “The builders are required to submit an action taken report on any deficiencies or observations noted during the surveys within a week,” the notice said.
