Man held for throwing grenade on petrol station in Mansa dist
The Mansa police in a joint operation with the Bathinda Counter Intelligence wing have apprehended Shimla Singh of Ghrangana village.
Mansa SSP Bhagirath Singh Meena said during interrogation, Shimla Singh disclosed about his involvement in the grenade attack on a Mansa fuel station on October 27. The attack was carried out under the directions of Canada-based Arsh Dalla.
He said he obtained the grenade from the Garhshankar area on the instructions of Arsh Dala and also provided logistical assistance to the shooters involved in the Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau murder incident.
The police were conducting a comprehensive investigation to expose further links in the conspiracy and more arrests were likely.
The Mansa SSP said complainant Khushvinder Singh reported that his Sidhu Petrol Service outlet along the Sirsa-Mansa road was the target of an explosion around 1.31 am on the night of October 26-27, 2024.
The explosion occurred near the drain outside the pump and the complainant received an extortion call from an international number demanding Rs 5 crore. The caller threatened to harm the family if the money was not paid.
A case was then registered under various sections of the BNS, Explosive Substances Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at the City-1 Mansa police station.
The investigation revealed that the attack was orchestrated by terrorist Arshdeep Singh, alias Arsh Dalla, based in Canada. The grenade used in the attack was thrown by Shimla Singh, a known criminal from Ghrangana village, who had been in contact with Arsh Dalla for a long time. The attack was part of a larger network of terror activities planned by Arsh Dalla and his associates. Shimla Singh had previously been involved in several criminal activities.
