The CIA-2 unit of the Kurukshetra Police have arrested a man in connection with the blind murder of a man whose body was found on an empty plot on December 12.

The accused has been identified as Kulwinder Singh, a resident of Dabkheri village of Kurukshetra district. The deceased was identified as Yam Bahadur of Nepal. A Kurukshetra Police spokesman said on December 12, officials received information about a dead body lying on a plot. The body bore injuries sustained from a sharp weapon, he said. A murder case was registered at the Krishna Gate police station and the case was handed over to the CIA-2 unit. A team of the CIA-2, led by Mohan Lal, arrested the accused on Thursday and also recovered a knife used in the crime and a mobile phone from him. The accused was produced in a court which sent him to judicial custody.

CIA-2 in-charge Mohan Lal said the accused disclosed that he was in an inebriated condition when the Nepalese man, who too was drunk, approached him and asked for a ‘beedi’. The accused claimed that despite denying the victim multiple times, he kept pestering him. A verbal spat ensued between them during which Kulwinder thrashed the victim. He said the victim returned with an iron rod to attack Kulwinder, but he retaliated and stabbed him mutiple times with a knife and fled from the spot.
