Kulwant Singh, a resident of Bhangala village, was defrauded of Rs 7.5 lakh on the pretext of sending his son to Hungary by two suspects. The suspects were booked by the Bhikhiwind police.

Kulwant Singh in his complaint to the police stated that Lakhwinder Singh Lakha, a resident of Bhikhiwind, and his assistant Rahul Sharma contacted him four years ago and promised to send his son Lakhbir Singh to Hungary. The victim gave Rs 7.5 lakh to the suspects for the purpose. Kulwant said the suspects neither sent his son to Hungary nor were they ready to give him back the amount taken.

Joginder Singh, DSP, (PBI) Economics Offences wing, cybercrime branch, investigated the complaint. In the investigation report the suspects Lakhwinder Singh Lakha and Rahul Sharma were declared guilty and booked under Section 420 of the BNS.
