A resident of Bugga village near Tarn Taran was duped by a Mohali resident, who took a loan of
Rs 37 lakh loan on his name, after furnishing details of his bank account. The swindler has been identified as Rohit Saini, a resident of HB-160, Phase 1, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali).
In his complaint to the district police, the victim identified as Malkit Singh, stated that the suspect availed loan against the amount deposited in his bank account. During an inquiry conducted by Satnam Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Punjab Bureau of Investigation, Economic Offences Cell, it was discovered that the suspect got Rs 37 lakh loan sanctioned against the amount deposited in the complainant’s account.
On the basis of the inquiry report, a case was registered under Sections 420 and 120-B of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the suspect in this connection on Saturday. The police are conducting raids to arrest the suspect.
