Acting on a complaint filed by the Maharashtra Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), the Mumbai cyber police today lodged an FIR against a man who claimed he could hack EVMs by isolating machine frequency, EC officials said.

In the complaint, the Maharashtra CEO stated that the claims made by the accused, Syed Shuja, were false, baseless and unsubstantiated.

The FIR was registered under the BNS and the IT Act at the Dakshin Mumbai cyber police station on November 30. In 2019, the EC had ordered an FIR against Shuja for making similar claims.
