Malerkotla police hand over 30 stolen mobile phones to owners
The Malerkotla police urged residents who may have lost mobile phones or other electronic gadgets to inform the nearest police station or cybercrime cell promptly so snatchers or thieves may be traced.
The police, led by Senior Superintendent of Police Gagan Ajit Singh, organised an event to hand over 30 stolen mobile phones worth around Rs 6 lakh to their owners. He said the phones were recovered by a team of cops led by the incharge of the cyber cell, Manpreet Singh.
The SSP appreciated the efforts of the team in searching the stolen or snatched phones on the basis of information provided by the complainants. He said the team identified snatches and thieves through digital facilities available with the cyber cell and investigated each case properly to nab the suspects and recover the mobile phones. Addressing the gathering at the event, he said, Gagan Ajit Singh urged the residents to be cautious when they carry anything expensive and inform the police as soon as possible in case of any untoward incident.
He said, “Though we have experienced staff to track digital equipment, any delay in receipt of information makes their work tedious and the snatcher or thief succeeds in escaping the range of action of the police.”
