Makeover of Nahan streets under way
The long-neglected streets of Nahan are finally set to get a much-needed facelift as the Municipal Council, Nahan, has allocated Rs 10 lakh for their repair. With tenders awarded and work already under way, residents can expect significant improvement in the condition of city streets, particularly in the main market area and near Rani Tal.
For years, the deteriorating condition of the streets had been a persistent issue for locals, causing daily inconveniences. Accidents due to uneven surfaces, waterlogging and potholes were common complaints. However, with the commencement of repair work, the residents have expressed relief and hope for smoother commutes.
The repair process involves patchwork and complete resurfacing in severely damaged areas. The main market, which suffered the worst damage, is being thoroughly revamped. Workers are using machines to remove old layers of concrete and refill the streets to prevent future potholes.
Municipal Council chairperson Shyama Pundir confirmed the developments, stating: “We have allocated Rs 10 lakh for the repair of damaged streets in the city. The work has already begun and is progressing steadily. In addition to street repairs, several other initiatives have also been launched to ensure better facilities for residents.”
