Majority of Cong, AAP candidates to file papers on Thursday — the last day of nominations
Only five candidates from the BJP and three from Congress have filed their nomination papers so far. The remaining candidates are likely to file their papers on Thursday, the last day of nominations. Faridabad and Palwal have six and three Assembly segments, respectively.
BJP candidates Vipul Goel (Faridabad), Mool Chand Sharma (Ballabhgarh), Rajesh Nagar (Tigaon), Tek Chand Sharma (Prithla) and Gaurav Gautam (Palwal) have filed their nomination papers in these two districts so far. Dhanesh Adlakha, Harinder Ram Rattan and Manoj Rawat, whose names were announced by the BJP for Badkhal, Hodal and Hathin segments, respectively, on Monday night are likely to file their papers on Thursday, according to party sources.
Outgoing Independent MLA Nayan Pal Rawat, rebel candidate of BJP Deepak Dagar and Surender Vashist of the INLD-BSP alliance have also filed papers from Prithla, which has emerged as a hot seat in view of dissidence against the ruling BJP over the allocation of ticket.
Meanwhile, the Congress candidates who have filed their nominations are HPCC chief Udai Bhan (Hodal), Karan Singh Dalal (Palwal) and Neeraj Sharma (NIT).
Though the Congress announced the allotment of tickets to Udai Bhan and Neeraj Sharma on Wednesday morning, Karan Singh Dalal surprised everyone by filing his papers as Congress candidate on Monday, despite the fact that his name is yet to be announced.
Dalal claimed that he had been informed by the high command that his name had been finalised and delay in the announcement was due to technical reasons.
The seats where the Congress candidates are expected to file their papers on the last day include Faridabad, Ballabhgarh, Tigaon, Badkhal, Prithla in Faridabad district and the segment of Hathin falling in Palwal district. Sharda Rathore, a former MLA, has said that she will file her papers on Thursday from Ballabhgarh.
Similarly, three AAP candidates — Parvesh Mehta (Faridabad), Abhash Chandela (Tigaon) and Ravinder Faujdar (Ballabhgarh) — are also due to file their papers on Thursday.
