Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s visit to Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) was cancelled due to unfavourable weather conditions caused by smog. His plane was unable to land at the Halwara airport, so it had to be diverted to Amritsar for refuelling before heading to Indore.

The Vice President was scheduled to attend an international conference on “Transforming Agrifood Systems in the Face of Climate Changes and Energy Transitions” at PAU. However, due to the smog, his visit was cancelled. Instead, Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab, and Bhagwant Singh Mann, Chief Minister of Punjab, attended the conference.

The AQI in Ludhiana has been deteriorating, with a thick layer of smog engulfing the city throughout the day. The average AQI recorded by PAU at 2 pm was 175, while the average AQI yesterday was 202, which falls under the poor category.
