UP man nabbed with illegal weapon

The Ludhiana police claimed to have nabbed a man and seized illegal weapon from his possession.

The suspect has been identified as Mohd Sorab (24), a native of UP, now residing at Mundian Khurd here.

ADCP (Investigation) Amandeep Singh Brar in a statement issued stated that a tip-off was received that the man possessed an illegal weapon. After verifying information, he was arrested and a .32 bore pistol, along with one cartridge, was seized. On being asked about the licence of the weapon, he failed to present the same.

Brar said now, the police remand of the suspect would be sought from court so that the weapon supplier from whom he bought the illegal weapon could be identified and more ilegal weapons be seized. Even during further questioning, purpose of possessing the weapon would be identified. The police would also check if the suspect used the weapon in some criminal activity.
