Investigating officer ASI Sukhdev Singh said he, along with a police team, was conducting routine patrolling near the Kaonke Kalan bus stand when he got a tip-off that two persons, who were into drug trafficking for long, had been supplying heroin to their clients in the Jagraon area. As per information, the duo were heading towards Kaonke Kalan on their motorcycle to deliver heroin to their clients, he said.

The ASI said deeming the information true, the police set up a naka at a strategic place where the motorcycle-borne duo were signalled to stop for checking. During the checking, 100 gm of heroin was seized from them. They were arrested and a case under the NDPS Act was registered. Now, their police remand would be sought from the court so that in further questioning, the entire drug supply line could be busted and big smugglers be nabbed. — TNS
