Two illegal colonies razed by Ludhiana MC

The Municipal Corporation (MC), Ludhiana, demolished two illegal colonies being established near the main dumpsite of the civic body on Tajpur Road here on Saturday.

A civic body team also demolished two encroachments alongside the Buddha Nullah as these illegal establishments were becoming a hurdle in construction of the road on the other side of the nullah.

Action against the illegal constructions has been taken on the directions of MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi.

Assistant Town Planner (ATP), Zone B, Davinder Singh, said the civic body team came to know about the construction of the illegal colonies near the dumpsite during a routine inspection, following which action was taken on Saturday.

He said they had also demolished another illegal construction around the dumpsite on Saturday.

Speaking regarding the action taken against encroachments around the Buddha Nullah, ATP, Zone D, Jagdeep Singh, said two encroachments were removed around the nullah near Upkar Nagar as these were becoming a hurdle in construction of a road on the other side of the stream.

A warning has also been issued to a few other encroachers to vacate and raze encroachments by themselves, otherwise the civic body will be forced to take action against them
