Two bike-borne miscreants snatch teacher’s gold chain
Snatching incidents are continuing unabated in the city. A latest incident came to fore on Saturday when a school teacher was targeted by two bike-borne snatchers at the Hero Bakery chowk here.
While she was going to school, two miscreants on a motorcycle snatched her gold chain in broad daylight. Interestingly, when the incident occurred, traffic police personnel, who usually remain present at such spots, were not present due to which snatchers after committing the crime fled the scene.
A CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced on social media on Sunday.
The victim, Navjot Kaur, said she was a teacher at Guru Nanak Public School, Model Town. On Saturday morning, she was going to school on her Honda Activa. She stopped at the Hero Bakery chowk due to the red light, during which, a young man came walking from behind her and snatched the gold chain worn by her.
His accomplice was waiting on the wrong side of the red light with his bike. By the time she raised the alarm, both miscreants escaped from the place. According to Navjot, the value of her chain, weighing around 3 tolas, was in lakhs of rupees.
The Police Division 4 after receiving a complaint had started a probe into the matter.
The police are checking CCTV cameras to get any clue about the suspects. The registration number of the bike is also being ascertained to get details of the vehicle owner.
