The Khanna City-2 police claimed to have nabbed two persons and seized 620 kg of poppy husk from their possession. The police also recovered Rs 20,000 drug money and four mobile phones from the suspects.

They also seized a truck (bearing registration no PB13BD3071), which was being used by the duo to smuggle poppy husk.

Inspector Jagjiwan Ram said he along with a police team had laid a naka outside Pristine Mall on the national highway in Khanna for keeping an eye on anti-social elements and drug peddlers. During the checking, a truck was was signalled to stop for checking on suspicion.

“When the police searched the vehicle, 620 kg of poppy husk was seized. The driver and his companion failed to give any satisfactory reply about the presence of narcotics in the truck. Both suspects were arrested and a case under the NDPS Act was registered against them,” he said.

Police officials said now, police remand of the suspects would be sought from court so that in the further questioning, the entire drug supply line could be busted and big drug suppliers be arrested.
