The Ludhiana police claimed to have busted a gang of robbers and arrested three of its members. The police recovered five mobile phones, a laptop, two motorcycles and sharp weapons from them.

The suspects have been identified as Gurkirat Singh, alias Guri (29), a resident of Kohara, Jamalpur, Angad Kumar (25), resident of Mohalla Hargobind Nagar, and Rinku Kumar, a native of Uttar Pradesh, at present staying in the Tajpur Road area.

ADCP (Crime) Amandeep Singh Brar in a statement issued stated that CIA-2 in-charge inspector Rajesh Sharma was patrolling on the Kakka Dhola road where he got a tip-off that the suspects were operating a gang of robbers and they had been looting people by pointing sharp weapons at them. As per information, they had committed several mobile snatchings and loot in the recent past in city areas.

Brar said the suspects were on the way to Khasi Kalan on a stolen motorcycle. The police team laid

a naka and signalled them to stop for checking.

Following which, they were cornered and arrested. Later during questioning, looted mobile phones, motorcycles and sharp weapons were recovered from them.

The ADCP said the suspects had looted a laptop from some Jalandhar-based person on October 1 at Samrala Chowk here. Now, its owner would be traced and the laptop would be handed over to him.

One of the accomplices of the gang members, identified as Ajay Kumar of Mundian Kalan, was at large and a raid was being conducted to nab him. Now, police remand of the suspects would be sought from court so that their involvement in past crime incidents can be verified.
