Ludhiana students excel in Class XII exams

Scoring 99.4 per cent marks, both Anshika Makkar and Anshika Chaudhry become the toppers in commerce and humanities streams, respectively, of the Class XII examination results, which were declared by the CBSE today.
The Central Board of Secondary Education has discontinued the practice of announcing national toppers to avoid “unhealthy competition” among students. No merit lists were announced in 2020 and 2021 as the results were declared on the basis of alternate assessment scheme because exams could not be conducted due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As per the past practice, the results have been compiled after being shared by schools at their own level.
In non-medical, Sukriti Jain is the topper with 98.4 per cent marks while Gurbir Singh is the topper in medical with 99 per cent marks. All toppers wish to move ahead in their respective fields to achieve their goals.
Talking to The Tribune, Anshika Makkar from Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, BRS Nagar, who scored 99.4 per cent marks in commerce stream said she wants to be a chartered accountant like her father. Anshika, whose mother is a homemaker said there was no fixed schedule for studies for her but consistency was there which paid off at the end. The new pattern initiated by the CBSE was little bit difficult but since she was focused, it did not matter much. Reading is Anshika’s main hobby.
The topper in humanities, who scored 99.4 per cent marks, Anshika Chaudhry is from Ryan International School, Jamalpur. She wants to be an IAS officer and for the same, she started preparations right from Class X. She never bothered about how many hours did she study but she focused on topics, which she had to complete in a day.
Her father is a businessman while mother is a government schoolteacher. Anshika also found the new pattern slightly difficult but she was too focused to overcome it.
Her hobbies include reading and writing.
In non-medical stream, Sukriti Jain from BVM, Udham Singh Nagar, has scored 98.4 per cent marks. She wants to be a professor in physics. She never studied by counting hours but she used her mobile phone in a right manner (as there were online classes initially due to Covid) to attend classes and tuitions. Her father is a businessman while mother is a housewife. Her hobbies are reading and poetry.
Gurbir Singh from BCM School, Shastri Nagar, who topped the medical stream with 99 per cent marks, wants to be a cardiologist. He expects good results from NEET too. His father is a professor at at PAU while mother is a maths teacher in a government school. Right from Class IX, Gurbir was always focused and consistent which bore fruits at the end. In Class X too, he was a topper in BCM School. He also used to take part in competitions. His hobbies include reading and listening to good music.
Other position holders
The other top position holders include Arman Gill of DAV School, Pakhowal Road, and Ishan of BCM School, Shastri Nagar scored 99.2 per cent and Manveer Kaur of Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, BRS Nagar got 99 per cent in commerce stream. In medical, Ishita of Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, BRS Nagar, scored 97.4 per cent, Prabhsimar of BCM School, Chandigarh Road, bagged 97.2 per cent, Gursimar of Greenland School got 97.2 per cent, Khushi from Greenland School bagged 97.2 per cent, Divyadeep Singh from Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, scored 97.2 per cent, and Kunal from DAV School, Pakhowal Road, got 97.2 per cent. In non-medical, Mansa from Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, got 98.2 per cent and Shailendra from Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, BRS Nagar, scored 97.8 per cent. In humanities, Deepanshi from KVM School scored 99.2 per cent and Parvinder Kaur from Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, bagged 99%.
Kashish Sabharwal, a student of BCM School , Shastri Nagar, lost her father due to Covid, following which the girl’s family faced financial problems to continue with her studies. Afterwards, the school sponsored her entire fees for two years. Kashish scored 95 per cent marks in the exams.
