Stand for children’s rights, Malerkotla residents told
The administration has launched a campaign to transform theme of World Children’s Day into reality.
Besides organising events to spread awareness about causes and consequences of violation of various sections of the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulations) Act, Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and Indian Child Welfare Act, special task force conducted raids at commercial establishments, hotels, marriage palaces and factories in Malerkotla, Amargarh and Ahmedgarh subdivisions.
Deputy Commissioner Pallavi informed that special teams, including officials of the District Child Welfare Department and the police had been constituted and deployed for prevention of violation of various provisions of the Child Protection Act. “We launched a campaign to transform the theme of World Children’s Day titled ‘Listen to the Future — Stand up for rights of children into reality’ by undertaking persuasive and punitive events,” said Pallavi.
District Child Protection Officer Harpreet Kaur Sandhu said special task force teams led by Amandeep Kaur and Pawneet Kaur had been deployed to conduct raids at eateries, shops, factories, hotels and vends to ensure that no underage child had been employed.
