Competitions in athletics, baseball, lawn tennis and kickboxing in the 3rd edition of the state-level Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan, being held at Guru Nanak Stadium, Gill village, Jassowal Kular village and the multipurpose indoor hall since November 4, concluded on Saturday. The games were organised in the boys and girls, men and women categories by the Punjab Sports Department in association with the district administration.

On Saturday, in discus throw event (girls U-17), Divjot Kaur of Patiala proved her mettle to clinch the top honours. Komaljeet Kaur of Muktsar secured the second position and Gurkanwal Kaur of Patiala finished at the third place while in 1,500m race, Mehakdeep Kaur of Mansa, Diya Rana of Rup Nagar and Rajwinder Kaur of Tarn Taran bagged the top three positions.

In 400m hurdles (girls U-17), Tasneem Kaur Dhillon (Barnala) came out triumphant while Tamanna Puri (Tarn Taran) and Neetu Saharan (Fazilka) finished at the second and third place, respectively.

In women (21-30 years) category, Khushdeep Kaur of Bathinda bagged the first position in 400m hurdles while Neha of Jalandhar and Ramandeep Kaur of Jalandhar finished as first and second runners-up, respectively. In discus throw event, Gurvir Kaur (Patiala) won the top position, Jasmeet kaur (Malerkotla) secured second and Chetna (Bathinda) finished at the third spot.

In 1,500m race for women (31-40 years), Seema Devi of Jalandhar, Gurjeet kaur of Mohali and Ramandeep Kaur of Ludhiana secured the first three positions and in discus throw, Amanpreet Kaur of Jalandhar emerged winner while Simranjeet Kaur of Bathinda and Gagandeep Kaur of Fatehgarh Sahib secured the second and third places, respectively.

Teja Singh Dhaliwal, honorary general secretary, Punjab Basketball Association, was the chief guest on Saturday while Kuldeep Chugh, DSO, and Harinder Sharma, handball coach, were the guests of honour.
