Doraha: Green Grove Public School celebrated National Sports Day to honour Major Dhyan Chand. Events were organised for students of classes I to VIII featuring a variety of indoor and outdoor games, including chess, carrom, basketball, fun games like the lemon spoon race and musical chairs, as well as athletics events. President JPS Jolly, Chairperson Satinderjit Kaur Jolly, vice-president Navera Jolly and Principal Suzy George praised the students for their enthusiasm and sportspersonship, lauding the efforts of both participants and physical education teachers in making the event a success. The day concluded with the distribution of medals and certificates to the winners. The event not only promoted physical fitness but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and teamwork among the students.

Judo competition

Ludhiana: Participants competed in different age categories, demonstrating remarkable agility, technique and discipline in the two-day Ludhiana Sahodaya School Complex Judo Competition organised by Bhartiya Vidya Mandir (BVM) School, Udham Singh Nagar, on Saturday. In the girls’ U-17 section, DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, secured the first position while HVM Convent School and Jesus Sacred Heart School finished at the second and third place, respectively. In the boys’ U-14 and 19 sections, BVM School, Sector 39, bagged the top positions. In the boys’ U-14 section, BVM, Kitchlu Nagar branch, secured the second position and HVM Convent School finished third while in the boys’ U-19 category, the second and third positions were bagged by BVM, Kithclu Nagar, and SHKSP Senior Secondary School, respectively. Seema Gupta, principal of the host school, gave away the prizes.

Parkash purb celebrations

Doraha: Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib Public Senior Secondary School celebrated the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Granth Sahib with reverence. On the occasion, students read articles, recited poems and engaged in Shabad Gayan. The celebration was followed by the distribution of prizes by the school trust members Amarjit Singh, Gagandeep Kaur and Parmjit Kaur Sekhon.
