School notes: DAV Public School, BRS Nagar
LUDHIANA: Four students of the school — Mishika Sood, Pranika Jain, Vaidehi Duggal, and Avnika Arora — have been selected for the Punjab State Schools Cricket Championship, scheduled to be held next month. Mishika, Pranika, and Vaidehi were selected in the U-14 category, while Avnika found a place in the district U-19 team. They were selected during the trials, conducted by the Punjab Education Department, at Doraha Public School Ground, Doraha. The school management congratulated the students and their cricket in-charge, Amandeep Singh.
BMC School
In a significant step towards promoting environmental sustainability, a tree plantation drive was successfully organised at BCM Basant City, Ludhiana. The event was inaugurated by the chief guest, Rama Munjal, who planted the first sapling. In her address, Munjal emphasised the crucial role of community participation in creating greener cities and combating climate change. “Planting trees is one of the simplest and most effective ways to fight global warming. Initiatives such as this help ensure a sustainable future for generations to come,” she stated. The event was also graced by the principal of BCM School, Dr Vandana Shahi, who participated in the plantation drive.
Police DAV Public School
With an aim to increase awareness on cardiovascular diseases and negate their global impact, the school celebrated World Heart Day, wherein the students were urged to participate in different activities, including art and crafts, Zumba sessions, and hands-on measuring pulse rate. An interactive session was organised in which a presentation was shown to reinforce the importance of being in good health by leading a healthy and energetic life. The school principal, Dr Anu Verma highlighted the importance of a healthy heart and encouraged the students to take steps to protect their hearts and share healthy habits with their family and friends to protect their hearts too.
DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road
The sports stars of the school exhibited the spectrum of strength and stamina at the CBSE Cluster XVIII Tournaments from September 19 to September 25. The school’s U-19 girls team stood out in the volleyball tournament held at Shri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Kapurthala. The U-14 boys and U-17 girls teams clinched the winner’s trophy and made their way to the nationals, whereas the U-19 boys’ team was declared first runners-up in the state-level basketball tournament held at Jesus Sacred Heart School. The U-19 girls’ hockey team glorified the school’s name further by winning bronze at the state-level hockey tournament held at Sant Giani Khalsa Academy, Amritsar.
