Raikot club, Sattowal teams emerge kabaddi champs
Young Sports and Welfare Club, Raikot, in the boys’ U-21 category emerged winners in kabaddi (circle style) and Sattowal village team came out triumphant in kabaddi (national style) in the block-level games of the third edition of Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan, organised by the Punjab Sports Department under the aegis of Sports and Youth Services, Punjab, with the help of district administration at different venues across the district which concluded on Thursday.
At Raikot, in the circle style, Baba Shri Chand College of Education, Noorpura village, secured the second position and in the national style, Baba Shri Chand Public School, Noorpura village, finished as runners-up.
At Kila Raipur, in Dehlon block, Baba Bachhittar Singh Nazim Sports Club of Mehma Singh Wala village secured the first in football (boys’ U-21) and SKN Youth Sports Club, Seelon Khurd village, finished second while Victoria Public School, Lehra village, came in third.
At Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) ground, Manki village (Samrala block), Dashmesh Club of Sarvarpur village secured the top position in volleyball in boys’ U-17 section, in boys’ U-21 group, Nankana Sahib Public School, Samrala and in girls’ U-17 category, Garden Valley International Public School, Dyalpura, secured the first position.
In Doraha block, at Sant Ishar Singh Stadium, Galouti village, Adib Kaur emerged victorious in 800m race in the girls’ U-14 section and in the same age group and event for boys, Gaurav Ali won the top spot.
In football (boys U-14), Guru Gobind Sports Club of Aluna Miana village and Sant Ishar Singh Memorial Public School, Karamsar Rara Sahib finished as runners-up.
At Government Senior Secondary Smart School ground, Sahnewal (Ludhiana II block), in kabaddi (circle style), Dheri Club won the top spot in the boys’ U-14 and U-17 sections while in kho-kho (boys U-21), Sahnewal Kalan and Shifali International School, Rahon road, secured the first and second place, respectively.
Kuldeep Chugh, District Sports Officer, visited the games’ venues and thanked the staff on completion of the block-level games. The district-level competitions under these games will be held from September 16 to 22.
