People commuting on Chandigarh road side had a difficult time as Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal were at Dhanansu to attend a state-level swearing-in ceremony for newly-elected sarpanches on Friday.

Besides, as the majority of the government-run buses were busy in ferrying for the function, passengers had a difficult time in getting buses for their destinations.

Many passengers were seen waiting for the buses to different routes at the bus stand. Satinder Kaur waited for two hours but the bus for the Ferozepur route did not arrive.

“The bus’ scheduled time is 11 pm and I have been waiting for long but there is no sight of the bus,” she said.

Anu, who works at a hospital located on the Chandigarh road had a difficult time reaching her workplace due to huge rush. “My shift starts at 10 am but I won’t be able to reach hospital on time,” she rued.

Long lines of traffic were seen on the Chandigarh road. A private firm employee Yogesh, who was struck in the jam at Samrala Chowk today said the main role of the government was to work for the people but here people were facing a difficult time due to the same.
