Panjab University Campus, Chandigarh, and Govind National College, Narangwal, began their campaign with easy wins in the girls’ section of the Panjab University Inter-College Basketball Championship being organised by Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, here at Guru Nanak Stadium on Sunday.

PU campus players proved too good for their opponents from Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11, Chandigarh, whom they thrashed 29-4 while Govind National College, Narangwal, routed Government College, Garhdiwala, in Hoshiarpur 47-1. In another match (girls), Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, overwhelmed Guru Nanak National College, Doraha, 75-1.

In the boys’ section, Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11, Chandigarh, beat Government College of Commerce and Business, Sector 50, Chandigarh, 45-11.

Dr Kamaljit Kaur Grewal, principal, Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana, and Teja Singh Dhaliwal, general secretary, Punjab Basketball Association, inaugurated the three-day championship, jointly.
