Prince and Abhay in the boys’ section while Ridhima and Lakshmi Mishra in the girls’ section clinched the top positions in judo in different weight categories in the ongoing district-level games of the third edition of Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan being organised by the Punjab Sports Department under the aegis of Sports and Youth Services, Punjab, with the assistance of district administration at different venues across the district on Friday.

At the multipurpose indoor hall, in the boys’ U-21 group, Prince (below 55kg), Abhay (below 60kg), Ishan (below 66kg), Varun Sharma (below 73 kg), Shivam (below 81 kg) and Nitpreet Singh (below 90 kg) won the first position while in the girls’ U-21 group, Ridhima (below 44 kg), Lakshmi Mishra (below 48 kg), Khushboo (below 52 kg), Dilpreet Kaur (below 57 kg), Shabana (below 63 kg), Deepika (below 70 kg) and Ginni (below 78 kg) came out triumphant.

In athletics (women’s 41-50 years), Jatinder Kaur of Raikot emerged the winner while Manpreet Kaur Uppal of Raikot and Gurpreet Kaur secured the first three positions in the 100m race. In the women’s 51-60 years category, Manjeet Kaur bagged the top honours in shot put event and Nisha Rani annexed the gold in 800m race.

In the men’s section (41-50 years), in 100m race, Gurpreet Singh of Gurusar Sudhar, Jatinder Singh of Raikot and Simarjeet Singh of Raikot secured the top three positions while in 3,000m walk, Phoola Singh secured the first spot, followed by Daljeet Singh and Jasveer Singh at the second and third place, respectively.

In volleyball (smashing) for boys’ U-21, SCD Government College, Ludhiana, emerged champions while Urban Estate team finished as the runners-up and Guru Nanak Stadium team got the third position.

In the girls’ U-17 section (volleyball shooting), Nankana Sahib Public School and Drishti Public School secured the first and second position, respectively.
