Dr Parminder Singh, Professor and Head, Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), was named Fellow of Indian Society of Ornamental Horticulture (ISOH), ICAR, New Delhi, during the two-day National Conference on “Smart Farming Solutions for Ornamental Horticulture,” held at Maharana Pratap Horticulture University (MHU), Karnal, Haryana, on November 8 and 9.

He has more than 27 years of teaching, research and extension experience; and has supervised three doctoral and 12 postgraduate students. He has also co-authored two text books, written 14 book chapters, four extension bulletins and six practical manuals. Besides, he has contributed 52 research articles in national and international journals, three review chapters and 61 popular articles in various magazines.

He has been associated with the development of a heat tolerant variety of marigold — Punjab Gainda No 1. Based on his outstanding work, he has been associated with the development of 11 recommendations for cultivation and post-harvest handling of flowers and cut greens. He has also completed two competitive research projects as Co-PI and is contributing to an ongoing research project.
