The first state-level ‘Para Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan,’ organised jointly by the Punjab Sports Department and the district administration, concluded at Guru Nanak Stadium here on Monday. During the six-day event, a number of athletes took part in three sports disciplines—athletics, powerlifting, and badminton—defying all disabilities.

On the final day, women para-athletes were seen in action in track and field events.In the 100m race, in the T-11 category, Nazia of Malerkotla came out triumphant, while Simran Kaur and Kavisha Jain of Ludhiana finished in second and third positions, respectively.

In the 200m race, Simran Kaur of Malerkotla, Kavisha Jain of Ludhiana, and Baljinder Kaur of Ludhiana bagged the first three positions, respectively, whereas in the long jump event, Nazia, Baljinder Kaur, and Simran finished first, second, and third, respectively.

In the T-12 category, Ludhiana’s Rani Kumar emerged the winner in the 100m race and was followed by Kiran Kaur (Sangrur) and Palak Kaur (Mohali) in the second and third positions, respectively.

In the T-13 category, in the 100m race, Shainpreet Kaur of Ludhiana bagged the top position, while Gayatri (Jalandhar) and Lovejot Kaur (Barnala) finished at the second and third spots, respectively.

In the shot put event (F-56 category), Lovepreet Kaur (Patiala) proved her mettle by clinching the top position, while Darshan Devi of Rupnagar and Charanjit Kaur of Moga annexed the other two positions.

Jaitu MLA Amolak Singh gave away prizes to the winners. Kuldeep Chugh, DSO, along with Jaspreet Singh, general secretary, Punjab Para Sports Association, coaches Gagandeep Singh and Sanjiv Sharma, were among others present there.
