Neighbour fires at man during wedding event
Marriage celebrations turned sour when a neighbour fired shots during a wedding event and injured Mandeep Singh, a cousin of the groom, at Kot Gangu Rai vilage in the Koom Kalan area.
Jagjit Singh, one of the family members of the victim, said a ‘jago’ was being taken out at the residence of Harbans Singh, whose son Gurbir Singh was getting married.
He said they had old enmity with a neighbour, Jagdish Singh Deesha, an NRI from Germany, over some land dispute. Deesha was not invited to the wedding. On Tuesday night, when jago was being taken out at the house, women from the family and guests were dancing to the beats of DJ.
He said the suspect went up to the rooftop and started making a video of the women who were dancing. When he was stopped from doing the same, he allegedly threw his glass of whiskey towards them and then fired shots in the air. Two of the bullets hit Mandeep in his arm.
He was rushed to a hospital.
In-charge, police chowki, Kayani Kalan, Jaspal Singh, said the suspect fired three shots, of which two hit Mandeep. He was arrested and would be produced before court.
