MLA inaugurates project to widen Dugri canal bridge
Atam Nagar MLA Kulwant Singh Sidhu inaugurated a project to widen the Dugri canal bridge on Thursday. The project worth Rs 78 lakh is being taken up under Smart Cities Mission and one side of the Dugri canal bridge (from Dugri area towards Atam Nagar police post) would be widened under the project.
MLA Sidhu said the width of the particular side of the canal bridge would be increased to 10-12 feet under this project and this would be a major relief for the commuters.
Currently, the narrow bridge witnesses frequent traffic snarls. The inauguration ceremony was performed in the presence of the members of Dugri Market Association and residents of neighbouring areas. MC Superintending Engineer Sanjay Kanwar among other officials were also present on the occasion.
The MLA said the movement of traffic on the canal bridge would not be hit due to construction works and widening of this bridge would provide a major relief to the residents.
