Miscreants booked for attacking family, damaging car
The Raikot Sadar Police have booked at least five miscreants under Sections 125, 333, 296, 351 (2), 324 (6), 191 (3) and 190 of the BNS besides Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act for allegedly causing danger to human life, trespassing, criminal intimidation, rioting and assaulting with intent to cause death during a daylight assault at a house situated at Kalsian village on Raikot Malerkotla road on Monday afternoon.
Though no one was reported injured in the incident, a car belonging to the complainant was damaged by the miscreants carrying swords, a pistol and rods fitted with wheels.
The accused were identified as Sukhvir Singh Sonu of Johlan Road Raikot, Husanpreet Singh of Bhaini Baringa village, Jaskaran Singh Karan of Ramgarh Sivian village, Mandeep Singh Nikka of Bassian village, Sinda of Moom village besides an unknown assailant.
Lakhwinder Singh of Kalsian village alleged that the miscreants had attacked his family when he, along with his son Parneet Singh and other members, was at his house at Kalsian village at about 5 pm.
“While we were sitting inside our house we heard a sound that suggested that some vehicle had hit our car parked outside the house,” said Lakhwinder Singh adding that a Thar Jeep bearing number Punjab 05 B 0006 had collided with his car.
Perusal of an FIR registered at the Sadar Police Station Raikot revealed that the miscreants had tried to intimidate the complainant’s family and passersby by brandishing swords and rods fitted with sharp metallic wheels besides pointing a pistol on his (complainant) son Parneet Singh. Lakhwinder Singh alleged that two bullets were also fired in the incident.
As the Thar Jeep, miscreants were travelling was also damaged in the incidents miscreants stopped a private bus carrying passengers to escape the spot.
Officials at Lohatbaddi Chowki under Sadar Police Station revealed that cops led by in-charge Gursewak Singh had launched a manhunt to arrest the accused but no one was nabbed yet. “We have tightened noose around the suspect and hope to arrest them all soon,” said Singh. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused had earlier attacked Rohit Arora at his shop at Raikot.
As Parneet Singh had supported Arora over a pending payment from the accused, they wanted to settle score with him.
