A daylight robbery occurred in Khanna when a man carrying Rs 8 lakh, withdrawn from an HDFC Bank branch, was attacked and robbed of the money. The incident occurred around 1 pm near Salodi village’s brick-kiln. Arshdeep Singh, who is working with a local rice trader, after withdrawing the cash was returning when unidentified assailants attacked him on the head, leaving him unconscious. The miscreants, who came in an autorickshaw fled with the cash.

His employer Vishal was informed and the police were alerted. The victim, who was hospitalised, is stated to be out of danger.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Amritpal Singh Bhati said the police were checking the CCTV footage of the bank and surrounding areas to identify the culprits. The investigation was on.

The DSP assured that the perpetrators would be arrested soon.

The police would also investigate whether the robbery was the job of some insider or the victim was being tracked from the bank by the suspects.

Meanwhile, sources said the police would also scan call details of the victim to inquire if he connived with the robbers and enacted a drama of loot. He would also be questioned to get any clue in the case.
