Miscreant seeks Rs 3-crore extortion from city bizman

An extortion of Rs 3 crore has been demanded from a prominent family staying in the posh area of Shastri Nagar in Jagraon. The victim’s family owns shellers in villages near Jagraon and other businesses as well.

After the complainant reported the matter to senior police officials of the Ludhiana rural police, the probe has reportedly been handed over to inspector Kikkar Singh, in-charge of Jagraon’s CIA staff. The inspector, along with his staff, had been checking CCTV cameras of the area around Shastri Nagar and the disposal road. The police had not been able to get any clue about the suspect due to dense fog.

As per information, an unidentified person riding a scooter threw a slip inside the house of the businessman. The suspect, who was wearing a face mask, was riding a scooter. When he entered the street, the suspect switched off both street lights taking advantage of the fog. Afterwards, he threw the slip inside the house from over the wall. When members of the victim’s family saw the slip, they were panicked.

A police official said the suspect was wearing a mask and his face was not identified due to fog in the night, adding that a probe was on.
