Minor among 2 violated in Haibowal, youth nabbed

The Haibowal police yesterday registered two cases of sexual assault and in one of the incidents, the victim is a minor.

In the first incident, the police registered a case against a youth, identified as Murari, a resident of the Jassian road area. The suspect had raped a 16-year-old girl. The complainant, the victim’s mother, told the police that on June 20, her daughter left home without informing anybody. They searched for her at various places in the city but in vain.

The victim’s mother said on June 26 her daughter returned home. When she was asked the reason behind her sudden disappearance, the girl said on June 26, the suspect had taken her along on the pretext of marrying her. The youth took her to some plot where he forcibly developed physical relationship with her.

Investigating officer ASI Roshan Lal said after registering a case, he was arrested by the police.

The other case was registered by the Haibowal police against Shakti Walia, a resident of the Sabji Mandi road area, for raping a woman. The complainant said the suspect was known to her and he used to frequently visit her house. Last month, when she was alone at home, the man barged into her house and sexually assaulted her. He also made a video of the act.

She said later, the suspect started blackmailing her and threatened that if she would not develop physical relationship with him, he would make her obscene video viral on social media.

Inspector Amritpal Singh said a case had been registered. Further probe was launched by the police to nab the man.

In one of the incidents, a case was registered by the police against Shakti Walia of the Sabji Mandi road area, for raping a woman. Inspector Amritpal Singh said further probe was launched by the police to nab the suspect.
