Ramgarhia Girls College, Miller Ganj, overpowered Gill Baseball Club to lift the trophy in the 19th Senior District Baseball Championship, held at Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School, Gill village, near here. Eight teams competed in the championship.

In the final, Ramgarhia College players got the better of their opponents 6-4 to clinch the title. Nishu, Sandeep Pal, Navdeep, Amanjot, Sadhna and Mehakdeep scored one run each to help the college emerge triumphant.

Earlier, in league matches, Ramgarhia College beat Khalsa Baseball Club 2-0, Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School, Gill village, prevailed over Nightingale Baseball Club 1-0, Gill Baseball Club defeated Sangowal Baseball Club 2-1 and Teja Singh Sutantar Memorial Senior Secondary School, Shimlapuri, outwitted Guru Nanak Baseball Club 1-0.

In the semi-finals, Ramgarhia College routed Teja Singh Sutantar Memorial Senior Secondary School 8-0 and Gill Baseball Club edged out Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School, Gill village 10-8.

Harbir Singh Gill, honorary general secretary, Punjab Baseball Association, gave away prizes, Jatinder Kumar Thakur, Neeru and Balraj Dass, all members of the Ludhiana District Baseball Association, were among those present at the prize distribution function.
