The nomination procedure is over and now, candidates are putting their best efforts in campaigning and making use of every medium to put forward their candidature before the public.

Party candidates are going for door-to-door campaigning, getting publicity material such as banners, posters, flags, etc, printed and also making use of digital platforms.

Dr Sukhchain Kaur Gogi, who is a AAP candidate from Ward 61 and better half of MLA Gurpreet Gogi, said she finds interacting with the people as the best medium for reaching out to the public.

“We are making use of print medium and online as well but nothing beats personal connection when one visits families and listen to them. Today’s generation likes interacting through social media more but I think meeting personally is what I love to do,” she said.

Another candidate Baljinder Singh said with most people watching recent happenings online, he was preferring the online mediums over conventional posters and banners.

“Today is the age of technology and I think this is the best way to interact with the people and put forward your point,” he said.

Candidates these days prefer online platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and X for advertisements, which had resulted in swindling of orders for the printing industry.

Sikander, owner of a printing press, said in recent years they had witnessed huge decline in orders related to publicity material.

“Online medium has taken over the printing business and people are preferring online and social media platforms these days. We have witnessed 50 per cent decline in sales during the elections,” he said.

Ashok Kukreja, a city resident, said candidates should refrain from defacing public property by pasting posters and banners on these.

AAP candidate Amrit Varsha Rampal is also visiting houses of residents. “We have always been in touch with the people and with the elections round the corner, it gave yet another opportunity to engage with the public at the ground level,” she said.
