Mandeep Singh from Amritsar and Rajvir Kaur of Tarn Taran emerged victorious in the road race in the boys and girls (21-30 years) categories, respectively, on the opening day of the three-day cycling competition during the third state-level Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan, being organised by the Punjab Sports Department with the help of the district administration at Dhanansu village, near here on Wednesday.

In the boys’ section (40 km massed start), Mandeep Singh was followed by Pardeep Singh (Amritsar) and Mohd Naseer of Ludhiana in second and third positions, respectively.

In the 20 km massed start for women (31-40 years), Pushpinder Kaur of Patiala bagged the top position, while Sukhpal Kaur of Bathinda finished as the runner-up, and Rajinder Kaur of Ludhiana bagged the third spot.

Kuldeep Chugh, DSO, Ludhiana, flagged off the race. Competition in track events will be held on November 28 and 29 at the cycling velodrome of the Punjab Agricultural University.
