Man held with banned string
The Ludhiana police on Friday arrested a man and seized 160 rolls of banned plastic string from him.
The suspect was identified as Lallan Sharma, a resident of Inder Vihar Colony here.
ADCP Jagbinder Singh while addressing a press conference stated that a tip-off was received that the suspect was indulging in the illegal business of selling plastic string. After verifying information, the police conducted a raid and nabbed the man. The police seized 160 rolls of plastic string from him.
The ADCP said now, further investigation in the case would be done to inquire about names of big suppliers of plastic string and they would also be arrested in coming days.
The banned deadly plastic string is openly available in the market. Shopkeepers in the garb of selling kites had also been selling the same. To prevent police action, shopkeepers were not keeping rolls in their shops. Instead, they keep the same at undisclosed locations.
