Man booked for sodomising boy

The Police Division 6 yesterday registered a case against a man who allegedly sodomised a 14-year-old boy at Partap Chowk here. A case was registered on the complaint of the mother of the victim.

The suspect was identified as Manoj Kumar, alias Manjit Singh, a resident of Partap Nagar.

The complainant told the police that Manoj, who was a roadside vendor, took her son along with him on September 26 for offering him work at his vend. Instead of giving him any work, the suspect took the boy to some isolated place near the vend and sodomised him. After committing the crime, the man told the victim not to reveal about the matter to anyone, else he had to face dire consequences.

The woman said after the incident, her son informed her about the sexual assault and a complaint was lodged in this regard. After days of probe, the police on Monday registered a case against the man.

Investigating officer ASI Joginder Singh said further investigation was launched in the case and the suspect would be arrested soon.
