Man arrested for assaulting eatery manager, looting Rs 1.7 lakh

The manager of a restaurant here was allegedly assaulted and looted of Rs 1.7 lakh.

According to information, the suspect, Manjit Singh, who was working at the restaurant, was caught stealing electrical equipment. When confronted, Manjit called his accomplices to the spot. He, along with his accomplices, attacked the manager. They fled the spot after looting Rs 1.7 lakh from the manager.

In a complaint with the police, restaurant manager Wahiguru Pal Singh said Manjit was stealing electrical equipment from the restaurant on December 13. When he confronted, Manjit became aggressive and called his accomplices. He, along with his accomplices, assaulted him and looted Rs 1.7 lakh from him.

The police arrested Manjit and launched a manhunt to nab his accomplices. The police produced him in a court, which sent him to two-day police remand for further investigation.

The police have launched a manhunt to nab the remaining suspects. They are also making efforts to recover the stolen cash.
